YogaBuds™ for Kids
Temmi Ungerman Sears's enthusiasm infects these nurturing,
non-competitive classes, Iyengar yoga, lauded for its therapeutic,
self-healing effects, is practised in a bright, naturally
lit studio.
Children as young as three and a half and as old as 14 playfully
move, bend and stretch their bodies, increasing physical coordination,
flexibility, balance, strength, stamina and concentration.
Performing asanas (the series of yogic postures that involve
grounding, breathing and lengthening the spine) is said to
help a child develop self-confidence and enhance concentration
skills, self-discipline and self awareness.
At first delighted to achieve back bends and handstands,
kids soon find themselves enjoying the calming effect of connecting
with their thoughts and feelings.
