A NOTE FROM TEMMI
Yoga is the practice of listening, and yoga is an act of love and self-empowerment. I have a lifelong passion for yoga, and have been practicing and teaching for almost four decades. I've used yoga my whole life as a way to ground and centre myself, restore my body, balance my nervous system, emotions and thoughts. It guides everything I do, from parenting, to running my own studio, managing loss and embracing change.
I’m a yoga therapist with over 35 years of experience. I came to yoga in my early twenties and have been a devoted student of Iyengar yoga since. I founded the YogaBuds studio in 1994 and was a prominent figure in the evolution of children’s yoga in Canada, launching the first children’s program in 1997. I have enhanced my knowledge by traveling to Pune, India several times to study for a month at a time with B.K.S Iyengar and Geeta and Prashant Iyengar. I assisted them in daily Medical Classes held at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute.
I now facilitate private yoga therapy sessions and teach group yoga classes for people of all ages in the YogaBuds studio. Drawing on my years of experience and utilizing the various tools in my toolkit, combined with my ability to connect with students of all ages and build lifelong relationships, I enable others to remain active, manage pain and health issues and enjoy life. Private yoga therapy sessions and classes are safe, supportive and transformative, and enable others others to achieve their full potential. My intention in facilitating the yoga and mindfulness practice is to help people of all ages and stages lead more conscious, joyful and healthy lives.
"As a student at Yogabuds for a number of years I have always been impressed with Temmi's ability to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere to learn and practice yoga. Her teaching style is incredibly inclusive ensuring that students of every ability get the maximum benefit from the poses. Most importantly, Temmi excels at bringing yoga "off the mat" and into our everyday lives, helping us to be more mindful and kind to each other and ourselves."
